Champagne Blanc de Blancs "Comtes de Champagne" 2011 75 cl Taittinger in box
The flagship champagne of the Taittinger company, the very refined Comtes de Champagne grands crus Blanc de Blancs, is born in Reims, from 100% Chardonnay first pressing from the five Grand Crus of the Cote des Blancs: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur -Oger, Oger, a terroir that extends for only 20 km and is a guarantee of absolute finesse.
Comtes de Champagne grapes grow on calcareous soils with a chalky surface, perfect for the flowering of white grapes that acquire minerality, strength and aromatic refinement.
The harvest takes place during the middle of September, when the grapes reach optimal ripeness.
In the cellar it remains to mature for 12 years, 5% of the wines that compose it are aged in new oak barrels that are replaced every year to improve the intrinsic qualities of the final blend of toasted notes.
During these years, time has worked its magic, which means that this vintage comes to us with extraordinary energy and aging.
This Comtes de Champagne is made with great care and attention until it reaches the optimal conditions and the criteria for its creation mean that it cannot be produced on a large scale.
The moment you open this 2008 vintage, it meets all expectations.
The color is golden with green reflections, the bubbles are delicate and persistent. The nose reveals a strong belonging to its origins, the calcareous soil gives it that very airy and delicate sensation, at the same time it is concentrated, complex and sober, revealing aromas of pear, lime, white pepper, orange blossom, hints of licorice and slightly toasted notes.
The attack on the palate is vibrant, with great aromatic refinement that leads us to a persistent minerality and tone accompanied by a nice soft freshness. The finish is refined and concentrated, giving aromas of white fruit, grapefruit, mint and a slight hint of honey.
Comtes de Champagne offers all the aging potential that is expected from such a cuvée. The best example of Maison Taittinger style. To be savored on the most special occasions.
