Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Superiore DOC, is a harmonious red wine of extraordinary expression of the Tuscan territory.
Ornellaia 2017 Bolgheri DOC, a unique red wine, consisting of Cabernet Sauvignon 56%, Merlot 25%, Cabernet Franc 9% and Petit Verdot 10%.
Described by Ornellaia as "faithful expression of a unique terroir always in harmony with nature", Ornellaia 2017 is in fact the result that impeccably describes this particularly warm and sunny vintage.
The harvest was done by hand in 15 kg crates and the bunches were carefully selected and subjected to a soft pressing.
Alcoholic fermentation took place partly in stainless steel vats, partly in concrete vats at temperatures below 25 ° C for a week, followed by a maceration of about 10-15 days, for a total stay in the tank about three weeks. Malolactic fermentation took place mainly in oak barriques (70% new and 30% second passage).
The wine remained in barriques in the Ornellaia cellar at controlled temperature for a period of about 18 months. After the first 12 months, the assembly was carried out and then reintroduced in the barriques, where he spent another 6 months. Finally, the wine is bottled, where it remains for another 12 months before its introduction on the market.
The color of Ornellaia 2017 is intense and dark, with a rich and complex nose, it releases aromas of ripe red fruits, accompanied by notes of sweet tobacco and vanilla. On the palate we find it with a good concentration and great balance, a combination of firmness and pleasant freshness.
