Mille e una Notte is Donnafugata's "fairytale" wine, a workhorse for romantic evenings and special moments. Soft, intense, with great structure, it is a wine that amazes also for its longevity which promises to be over 20 years of excellent maturation.

Mille e una notte Rosso Sicilia IGP is Donnafugata's red. It is the company's masterpiece, defined as "an icon of excellence in Italy and in the world since 1995".

The label shows Palazzo Filangeri di Cutò, a place of inspiration for Donnafugata. Queen Maria Carolina used to take refuge in this palace on the run from Naples, and it was also the house that framed the writer Tomasi di Lampedusa for his novel "Il Gattopardo". On the label, the Palazzo is immersed in the sky from “Mille e una Notte”. A tribute to the masterpiece of oriental literature capable of telling a thousand and one fairy tales.

Its vines grow at the Contessa Entellina estate, in western Sicily. The vines chosen for this wine are Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah, which grapes are carefully picked and selected to reserve only the best berries for this wine.

After cleaning and destemming, the grapes of the different vines ferment separately in steel tanks, macerating on the skins for about 14 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30 °.

The refinement is carried out in French oak barrels for 14 months and a further 20 months in the bottle to complete the maturation.

Mille e una notte is a soft and intense red wine, with a great structure and complexity, enriched by aromas of sweet fruits, balsamic and floral notes. Perfect to show off at an elegant dinner or for a special moment, its strong character combines it with red meat dishes, pasta with meat sauce or roasts. Also try with chilli chocolate.
