The 2017 harvest began on September 6, earlier than the average, but with a positive "delay" compared to the other wine-growing areas of the coast, thanks to the privileged position enjoyed by Tenuta Prima Pietra. The summer was hot and sunny, mitigated by some rain especially in August.
The good temperature excursions in September allowed the single varieties to complete ripening without imbalances and without excesses in sugar gradations.
Prima Pietra spends 20 days in steel and cement vats at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C, separately for each grape variety. Aging lasts 18 months in 50% new French oak barriques. For the first 10 months each variety refines individually, then the blend is created and the refining will continue for another 8 months.
The color of this Prima Pietra is lively and brilliant, it brings back to the nose a broad and persistent aroma with crunchy and deep fragrances of red berried fruits, refreshed by a pleasant balsamic finish, In the mouth it is refined, elegant and complex, silky on the palate with a great persistence. Velvety and balanced tannins.
