San Leonardo is the symbolic wine of Tenuta San Leonardo, born from a millenary tradition that has been handed down and reflects the identity of the territory.
The harvest is carried out in conditions of perfect maturation during the months of September and October.
San Leonardo is a Bordeaux-style red wine, created from a skilful blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenère, 10% Merlot grapes, from vines aged between 20 and 50 years.
The grapes are vinified separately in concrete, followed by an aging of 24 months in French oak barriques of first, second and third passage. Before bottling the cut is made and the exact proportions are decided only after a very strict tasting barrique by barrique, to then join 18 months in the bottle, creating a harmonious, intense, unique wine!
The "San Leonardo" Tenuta San Leonardo wine has an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. The olfactory notes express balsamic sensations of small berries, chocolate, tobacco, pepper, enriched by elegant nuances of pepper.
The taste is full, warm, very round and with an extremely long intense aromatic persistence.
An important and intense wine to combine with game dishes, roast duck, aged cow's milk cheeses, lamb, snails, vanilla or cheese soufflé, truffle and dark chocolate.
San Leonardo wine has an aging potential that exceeds 30 years.
