Vigna di Gabri 2018 75 cl Donnafugata
Vigna di Gabri from the Donnafugata winery is a fine and elegant white, with an intriguing personality and surprising longevity. A Sicilian white wine with Mediterranean aromas, excellent to combine with fish dishes or delicate scallops in wine.
The Vigna di Gabri white wine from the Donnafugata winery is well structured and versatile in combinations.
This wine bears the name of the founder of Donnafugata, Gabriella Anca Rallo (together with her husband Giacomo), and the link with this wine which is depicted in the illustration by Stefano Vitale on the label. An image that fully expresses its peculiar characteristics: elegance and love for the vineyards that gave it life.
Vigna di Gabri is made up of a blend of Ansonica, Catarratto, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. These vines are grown at the Contessa Entellina estate and in the neighboring territories, in the south-western area of Sicily, on hilly terrain at 200-300 m.s.l.m. with a loamy-clay soil with a sub-alkaline reaction, rich in nutritional elements such as potassium and magnesium.
The careful management of the vineyard has allowed us to bring healthy and well-ripened grapes to the cellar, a prerequisite for quality and long-lived wines.
The harvest is carried out with care and at the time of the right ripening of each vineyard, once the harvest is complete, the fermentation takes place in steel vats at a temperature of 15-16 °. Following the aging of 7 months, 85% in steel tanks and 15% in French oak barrels, and a further 5 months in the bottle to complete its maturation before being marketed.
Vigna di Gabri di Donnafugata has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections, characterized by intense and fragrant bouquets of white pulp fruit and citrus fruits, accompanied by floral notes and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate it is fresh and enveloping with a tasty and persistent savory finish.
A perfect white to drink immediately paired with seafood first courses, baked fish main courses or delicate meat dishes such as scallops in white wine, or to be kept in the cellar, its extraordinary longevity allows it to be kept for 10-12 years.
