Inspired by the great chateaus of Bordeaux, in 2017 Tenuta Masseto came out with the "second vin", the Massetino.
We have now reached the fourth vintage produced, 2020. It is a blend of Merlot (about 90%) and Cabernet franc, obtained from Masseto parcels that have shown a different personality, suitable for creating the new wine, Massetino.
The two varieties are processed separately. The vinification takes place in steel with a spontaneous fermentation, they then refine 12 months in barriques, once assembled they continue the refinement for 3 months in barriques and a short period in the bottle.
The Massetino 2020 in the glass reveals a beautiful purple color, smells of ripe cherry and undergrowth, with a background of sweet spices and tobacco.
In the mouth we find a nice crunchiness and freshness of the fruit, and a perfect harmony between power and final flavor, Massetino 2020 perfectly embodies the typical traits of the vintage.
