Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, the most important red of the Fattoria dei Barbi, which has been produced for over a century.
In the cellar of the Fattoria dei Barbi you can see a collection of thousands of bottles of Brunello, starting with the 1892 harvest.
It ferments on average 14 days in steel tanks without ever exceeding 28 ° C, then it is aged for at least two years in Slavonian barrels and four months in the bottle. Thus it arrives on the market ready to drink, but with a structure that prolongs its life in the bottle for many years.
The color is intense ruby red, tending to garnet with aging. On the nose, it presents the characteristic aromas of Sangiovese, with great intensity. In the mouth it is dry, warm, a little tannic, robust, harmonious and persistent.
In the kitchen it goes well with noble roasts, in particular feathered game and furred game, also in jugged, it is excellent with braised meats, stews and aged hard cheeses, such as Parmesan and Pecorino from Tuscany. Outside meals, it becomes an exceptional meditation wine.
