If in Burgundy they have Chambertin, in Italy we have Vigna Rionda; it is one of the most important vineyards of Barolo, the one where the characteristics of power and longevity of the wines are distinctive. It is located in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba and faces south-west, at 330 meters above sea level; Pira owns 1 hectare, renovated in 1994.
The refinement lasts about 15 days, to then refine 24 months in barriques and large wooden barrels.
The Barolo Vigna Rionda Luigi Pira has a bewitching bouquet, with citrus and floral notes followed by leather and graphite, precedes a powerful and structured sip, with dense but well integrated tannins; very long persistence.
