Mille e una Notte is Donnafugata's "fairytale" wine, a workhorse for romantic evenings and special moments. Soft, intense, with great structure.
The red wine Mille e una Notte Rosso Sicilia DOC Donnafugata is the masterpiece of the company, defined as "an icon of excellence in Italy and in the world since 1995".
The label illustrates the Palazzo Filangeri di Cutò, a place of inspiration for Donnafugata. Queen Maria Carolina used to take refuge in this Palace when fleeing from Naples, and it was also the house that served as a backdrop to the writer Tomasi di Lampedusa's novel "The Leopard". On the label, the Palace is immersed in the sky from "A Thousand and One Nights". A tribute to the masterpiece of oriental literature capable of telling a thousand and one tales.
Its vineyards grow at the Tenuta di Contessa Entellina, in western Sicily. The vines chosen for this wine are Nero d'Avola, Petit Verdot and Syrah, whose grapes are carefully harvested and selected to reserve only the best berries for this wine.
After destemming, the grapes of the different vines ferment separately in steel tanks, macerating on the skins for about 14 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30°.
The refinement is carried out in French oak barriques for 14 months and a further 20 months in the bottle to complete the maturation.
Mille e una notte Donnafugata is a soft and intense red wine, with great structure and complexity, enriched by aromas of sweet fruits, balsamic and floral notes.
Perfect to drink at an elegant dinner or for a special moment, its strong character pairs it with red meat dishes, pasta with ragù or roasts. Also try with chili pepper chocolate.
