Salco from the Salcheto winery is a Tuscan Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile red wine, with spicy aromas, red fruit, leather, tobacco and coffee, with a soft and elegant character, with velvety tannins. It ages 24 months in barrels and tonneaux, completing its refinement in the bottle for a further 4 years.
Salco Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG is a fresh and elegant Tuscan red wine, produced by the Salcheto company; known for its strong eco-sustainable footprint.
The Sangiovese Prugnolo Gentile vineyards, from which the Salco is produced in purity, are located on the clayey hills of Montepulciano, about 600 meters above the sea level.
The 2015 vintage for Salco was balanced, with an extremely hot climate in August, which stabilized the acidity and gave the wine soft and fleshy characters.
The harvest is carried out when the grapes reach a slight over-ripeness and are then de-stemmed and gently pressed. The must ferments on indigenous yeasts and without added sulphites, and is then placed in barrels and tonneaux, where it will remain for the next 24 months. Its refinement ends 4 years after bottling, before being put on the market.
Salco di Salcheto is an elegant and persuasive wine, excellent to drink immediately, but also after several years, thanks to its remarkable aging potential.
At sight it shows its ruby red with bright garnet reflections, the nose reaches fragrant aromas of purple flowers, black spices and red fruit that mix with hints of leather and tobacco, licorice and hints of dried herbs accompanied by velvety and round tannins and a final note of roasted coffee.
