Prima Pietra Tenuta Prima Pietra is an elegant and balanced red wine, endowed with enormous evolutionary potential, great refinement and excellent structure.
Composed of 50% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot, its vineyards are located in Riparbella, in the province of Pisa, 450 meters above sea level and the soils are rich in skeleton and clay ferrous.
The 2018 harvest began on September 12 with the Merlot and ended at the end of the month with the Cabernet. Period in line with previous years, thanks also to the favorable microclimate enjoyed by the Prima Pietra vineyard.
After a hot and rainy summer, the ripening of the grapes was homogeneous, uniform and abundant.
Prima Pietra spends 20 days in steel and cement vats at a controlled temperature of 28°C, separately for each vine. The aging lasts 18 months in 50% new French oak barriques. For the first 10 months each variety is still refined individually, then the blend is created and the refinement will continue for another 8 months.
Prima Pietra 2018 Tenuta Prima Pietra has a clear red color, the nose is broad and persistent with deep fragrances of red berried fruits and spices, refreshed by a pleasant balsamic finish. In the mouth it is complex, of great richness, velvety and rich in soft and balanced tannins.
