Inspired by the great chateaus of Bordeaux, in 2017 Tenuta Masseto released the "second vin", the Massetino.
The Massetino 2021 Tenuta Masseto is a wine produced from Merlot grapes (approximately 90%) and Cabernet franc, obtained from Masseto plots that have shown a different personality, suitable for creating the new wine, Massetino.
The harvest takes place manually in 15kg boxes, and once in the cellar each parcel of the vineyard is processed separately. The vinification takes place in steel with spontaneous fermentation, the malolactic fermentation in 50% new barriques, where they remain for 12 months to refine. Once assembled, they continue the refinement for 3 months in barrique and a short period in the bottle.
The Massetino 2021 in the glass reveals a beautiful bright red color, on the nose it is a full and persistent wine, it certainly does not go unnoticed; with aromas of ripe cherry and undergrowth, and a background of sweet spices and tobacco.
In the mouth we find a nice crunchiness and freshness of the fruit, vibrant and constantly evolving tannins.
Massetino 2021 is a powerful wine, reflection of a vintage that gave concentrated and very high quality grapes.
