Louis RoedererThe Collection 244 Louis Roederer is a high-level champagne, which changes every year based on the peculiarities of the vintage, while still maintaining the strong identity of the Maison.
The Collection number indicates the number of assemblies made since the birth of the Maison Louis Roederer.
The 244 edition contains 41% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir, and 26% Pinot Meunier coming from the company's own plots and from historic suppliers that present all the required characteristics. Among these, chalky soils are a prerogative of the Louis Roederer style, which give freshness as well as ensuring long-term development and resilience of the vine.
Each parcel ages separately and is tasted before blending to find the right balance and identity of the Collection 244 Louis Roederer champagne. These wines are then assembled into the Réserve Perpétuelle started in 2012, and enriched every year with the latest harvest and stored in stainless steel tanks. This procedure has the function of further enhancing the freshness and maturity of the harvests.
The Reserve Perpetuelle of the Collection 244 Louis Roederer was completed with the 2019 vintage 54%, of which 5% aged in wood. The aging on the yeasts lasts 4 years and is dosed at 7g/l.
A brilliant champagne, with a very fine and regular bubble. On the nose it releases a broad and deep bouquet of ripe fruits, peach and William pear and citrus fruits. The iodized, smoky notes, due to autolysis and aging in wood, add aromatic freshness. This is followed by chalky notes of slight reduction that reveal a concentrated and powerful wine. A juicy and ripe champagne.
The Louis Roederer Collection 244 champagne marks the return of the Meunier of the Marne and the Mountain in texture; this gives great delicacy to structured and saline Pinot noir and Chardonnay!
