Valtellina Superiore Grumello "Sassorosso" 2018 75 cl Nino Negri
Nino NegriGrumello Sassorosso Nino Negri is a red wine from 100% Nebbiolo - Chiavennasca grapes.
The Sassorosso vineyards are located in the heart of the Grumello sub-area; the vines are trained in Guyot on south-facing terraces with shallow sandy loam soil, at an altitude of 450 meters. Yield of 50 quintals per hectare thanks to a careful selection of the ripest bunches.
The bunches, harvested by hand at the beginning of October, are vinified at a controlled temperature (26 ° C) by means of automatic sprayers, with 10 days of maceration and with frequent pumping over (6 per day in the first period). The wine remains in steel vats until December. Subsequently part of the wine (2/3) is transferred to French oak barrels of 20 and 50 hl and part in second passage barriques.
Grumello Sassorosso has an intense garnet color with violet reflections. The perfume, well pronounced and ethereal, has a fine fragrance of withered flowers and bitter spices (cloves, cinnamon); the flavor is dry, savory, austere and elegant, with a pleasant lingering aftertaste of bitter almond.
Sassorosso is a wine of particular finesse, with a good roundness that enhances its characteristics.
