RS Rosso 2023 - Radikon

RS Rosso serves as an entry point into the fascinating world of Radikon—an extraordinary interpreter of the Oslavia territory in Friuli (province of Gorizia) and an iconic pioneer of natural viticulture.

Defined by a style that rejects conventional commercial logic, Radikon’s wines possess a unique personality deeply rooted in their terroir; the 2023 RS Rosso is a prime example. It is a carefully calibrated blend of red grape varieties—Merlot and Pignolo—cultivated on a vineyard spanning just over a hectare, where the soil composition is truly one-of-a-kind. Known locally as "Ponca," this soil consists of countless layers of marl and sandstone, which impart an unmistakable mineral character to the wine.

The grapes are harvested strictly by hand, destemmed, and crushed; the must then undergoes spontaneous fermentation in conical oak vats. Following a maceration period—which can last up to two weeks, depending on the vintage—the wine matures for one year in oak barrels of varying sizes. The aging process concludes with a period of several months of rest in the bottle.

Tasting notes

In the glass, the 2023 RS Rosso displays a substantial structure, matched by great complexity. The nose reveals rich notes of blackberry and plum, followed by hints of cocoa and nutmeg. On the palate, the wine is substantial and generous, striking a pleasant balance between its tannic structure and a velvety, enveloping quality, before transitioning into a finish defined by a distinct, vibrant freshness.

Why choose Radikon's RS Rosso?

A seductive creation from Radikon that manages to combine the producer’s iconic style with a more accessible, easy-drinking quality. RS Rosso is an essential choice for natural wine enthusiasts, as well as for anyone who appreciates authenticity and exceptional artisanal wines.
