In 2017 Casanova di Neri purchased a vineyard in Sesta, one of the best crus in Montalcino, and from this vineyard the idea of producing a new red of Montalcino was born to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Giovanni Neri, founder of the company.
The vines are very old, around 50 years of age and the vinification is traditional, with a fairly long maceration and 13 months of aging in tonneau.
The Rosso di Montalcino Giovanni Neri by Casanova di Neri, for complexity and power it stands out from all the reds of Montalcino and is more reminiscent of a small Brunello; a ripe cherry clearly emerges accompanied by notes of cocoa and licorice. On the palate it is very elegant, with dense but very fine tannins that leave the mouth clean.
