We are in Trentino, in Avio, and this wine is the younger brother of San Leonardo.
Terre di San Leonardo is an assembly of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenere, ferments spontaneously in concrete tanks and aging takes place for 80% 18 months in large 60 hl Slavonian oak barrels and 20% in barriques for at least 6 months. The maturation ends in the bottle for at least 6 months, before being marketed.
Terre di San Leonardo is incredible on the nose, fresh notes of red fruit mix with more complex balsamic and spicy hints, with notes of incense and cinnamon as well. On the palate it manages to be lean despite a remarkable structure, thanks to silky tannins and a fresh and savory vein that gives tension.
Terre di San Leonardo is a table wine, both on first courses with red or dark sauces, and stuffed pasta, and with second courses based on grilled meats, white meats and soft cheeses.
